OUR MISSION

We are a group of young, motivated girls in South Central, who strive for concrete change within our community. We will make change by conducting workshops/activities that will educate our students/community on ways to make our community safe and how to defend ourselves in order to feel safe. We understand that many girls at MACHS feel unsafe walking to/from school. Our mission is to make our girls feel confidently safe.

Why Safety?

We chose safety because that’s what South Central lacks. Many girls feel unsafe walking to/from Dr. Maya Angelou Community High School, due to the sexual harassment, especially catcalling, which occurs daily. We want to change the culture within our school, and entwine what is being taught, with the community, in order to achieve our mission. Safety.
